Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Limited secured an order from MT Energy Co., Ltd. for the construction of the MT Energy Power Plant (planned construction site: Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture). (Logo quoted from Yahoo’s image)

The power plant will be a biomass-fired power generation facility that will be fueled by wood chips produced from waste forest thinning in Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture, and other areas.

It is expected to help revitalize the materials production industry as well as the local lumber industry by effectively utilizing local wood biomass resources.

The facility will use a “circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler.” The SHI Group has supplied more than 500 CFB boilers in Japan and abroad.

SHI’s CFB boilers have a large share of the high-efficiency biomass power generation sector, and MT Energy’s recognition of SHI’s track record here was a factor in its decision to use one in its power plant project.

SHI will contribute to a stable electric power supply and the realization of a low-carbon society by providing reliable and highly efficient power generation facilities fueled by biomass and resource-saving low-grade fuels that are effective in combating global warming.
